Polymer clay was invented in 1938 by German chemist Friedrich Samuel Klatte, initially developed as a substitute for traditional pottery clay. Klatte intended to create a durable, non-toxic alternative for modeling and crafting, leading to the birth of this versatile medium. The product was named Fimo, which became widely popular among artists and hobbyists in the 1970s after it was acquired by the Italian company Eberhard Faber. Since then, polymer clay has evolved into a beloved medium for sculptors, jewelry makers, and crafters worldwide, known for its accessibility and myriad of colors.

Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, is an ancient glassworking technique that dates back to the 1800s. Originally developed in the Murano region of Italy, artisans would create intricate designs by layering colored glass canes, which were then sliced into thin cross-sections. These vibrant slices could be used for various decorative purposes, including jewelry and mosaic work, and they remain a timeless technique celebrated in modern art and design.

Here at Milli Fury, we combine Fimo and Millefiori to make beautiful and trendy designs for our customers and lovers of this art. Join us on that journey.
